My experience includes the construction of more than 550 deep shafts with a depth of up to 70 meters, and a diameter of up to 14 meters using concrete caissons, shotcrete, precast segments, secant piles, diaphragm walls, and sheet piles. Providing the required dewatering methods at water table areas. Conducting and analyzing all required geotechnical reports.

Gained wide experience in both contracting and consultant companies through a long record of successful and numerous projects in Qatar, UAE, Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, which includes pipe diameters ranging from 300mm to 3500mm, using all kinds of pipes mainly Concrete reinforced pipes (RCP), GRP concrete encased pipes, Polymer pipes, reinforced fiberglass pipes, ductile iron pipes HDPE pipes, steel pipes.

• Identifying geohazards (such as floods, and landslides) and developing strategies to mitigate their impact on construction projects.

• Review and approvals of geotechnical solutions, designs and execution methods proposed by the contractors of trunk mains.

• Emphasizing safe construction practices (Own Zero) and maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example in driving safe practices on site.

• Assisting the RE in monitoring the progress of the construction of the Works against the Program, and taking steps to ensure compliance with the Program

• Assisting the RE in the management of Inspectors for the supervision and monitoring of the execution and compliance of the Works.

• Assisting the RE in reporting on progress, safety, finance, quality, delay, and changes for the construction aspects of the Works.

  • Building a trusted relationship with the management team and with the client’s staff.

• Orient, assign, and supervise the construction inspection staff daily, so that all contractor activities are adequately covered.

Start from scratch on the largest trenchless and micro tunneling project in the world, which includes a total tunneling distance of 75 km, with pipe diameters ranging from 600 to 3,500 mm, and a total number of shafts equal to 460 shafts with a maximum depth of 70 meters, using the famous Herrenknecht MTBM/TBM. The value exceeded 1,300,000,000 SR. (One billion, three hundred million Saudi Riyals.)

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare and plan the surveying team for the project.
  • Prepare the required method statements and TBM machines.
  • Analyze and study the geotechnical report, and decide the best method and TBM machine in accordance.
  • Working closely with design, structural, and environmental engineers to ensure geotechnical designs are integrated into the overall project design.
  • Ensuring that all geotechnical practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards, and safety protocols.
  • Obtain all required permits to start excavation.
  • Define the scope of work for the project staff.
  • Assist and finalize the selection and procurement of all required TBM equipment, tools, and all types of machinery, and decide on all technical specs.
  • Recruit the construction team for the project.
  • Supervise all work activities, and provide solutions.
  • Execute all construction activities as planned.
  • Deal with all relevant departments of the project.
  • Provide project status reports.
  • Hand over all completed jobs, with all required documentation.

I was able to demonstrate and introduce MTBM machines, trenchless methods, and micro tunneling methods, which were more accurate and productive than the other thrust boring methods the company was using at the time. Job responsibilities included the following:

  • Manage all field operations.
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, and the general public.
  • Obtain all required approvals from clients and engineers.
  • Control material purchases, manpower, and equipment allocations.
  • Provide daily work plans that include technical support, problem-solving, schedule all required maintenance, and supervise it.
  • Analyze all soil investigation and geotechnical reports, and select the most suitable method of tunnel and shaft construction.
  • Prepare the required method statements and proposals.
  • Excavate jacking and receiving pits using different methods, such as sheet piling, secant piling, and concrete caisson.
  • Supervise the carrier pipe installation inside the casing, as well as the grout operation.
  • Review jacking pipe design.

2-Rescue Method Design for Stuck MTBM
Location: Doha -Qatar.

  • Designed and implemented an innovative rescue method for a stuck Micro Tunnel Boring Machine (MTBM) at a depth of 25 meters under challenging conditions, including a high-pressure underground water table
  • Utilized a second MTBM machine, pushing it from the receiving shaft to reach the stuck machine, and successfully recovered both machines to the receiving shaft
  • Achieved a 95% reduction in rescue time compared to conventional methods (e.g., excavating a deep shaft), significantly minimizing project delays and costs
